Clayton Park Overview

The forested, hilly trails and the rustic setting of 421-acre Clayton Park in rural Upper Freehold, New Jersey makes this a popular destination for local hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers. Located amidst the rolling farmland of western Monmouth County, Clayton park is one of the most beautiful parks in the county system and is treasured for it's stately stands of red and white oak, beech, ash and birch trees.

Visitors who arrive at the park via Imlaystown Road will pass through quaint Imlaystown with its historic landmark, Saltar's Mill, and picturesque Imlaystown Lake.

An information kiosk located at the park entrance displays a large map of the entire park and trails. Trail maps, a portable toilet and picnic tables are also available here. The trailhead to the Glen trail and Bridges trail can be accessed from behind the kiosk. To pick up either the Old Forge or Doctors Creek trails requires traveling some distance along the Bridges trail.
