New York Mountain Bike Outdoor Adventure Centers & Ski Resorts

Mountain biking trails at some of the largest ski resorts in New York State. There are fast downhills, plenty of singletrack adventures and easy scenic cross country biking for those who prefer to take in the views at a slower pace.

Belleayre Mountain

. . . is located in the heart of the Catskill Mountains in the Catskill Forest Preserve on forever wild land. The Mountain biking season at Belleayre usually begins in late April. All trails may be used for biking in the Upper Area, Lower area and Cross Country area. There is no fee for the use of the trails, however the trails can only be accessed by biking, they do not transport bikes to the summit on their chairlift.

Garnet Hill Lodge

The cross country ski trails, old roads, and new single track bike trails offer a great variety of mountain bike adventures for all skill levels. Over 25 miles of well-maintained double and single-track wind through the rolling Southern Adirondack countryside. "Bike Down Ride Back" shuttle bus available on selected days during the summer.

Adirondack
Gore Mountain Ski Resort

. . . offers lift served mountain biking and challenging trails for advanced downhillers. If you are just starting out you can try some of the cross-country ski trails in the base area, or take a lesson.

Hours of Operation:
July 31-September 5: 10am-4pm Daily
September 11-October 11: Saturday-Sunday 10am-4pm (open Columbus Day)

Adirondack
Holiday Valley

Take to the woods on Holiday Valley's Mountain Biking Trails. It is one of the largest ski resorts in New York State. For the adventurous, there are plenty of single tracks off the main route. It's by your own manpower to get up the slopes...no lift service is available.

Dates of Operation:
Spring - Fall: daylight hours. The trails close to biking when the snow falls and they start grooming the slopes.
Check website for exact dates. No access fees.

A guide to mountain biking in the area has been prepared by WNYMBA. Copies are available at the resort and in several shops in town.

Allegany
Hunter Mountain

Mountain biking returns to the slopes on July 1 - dazzling riders with a brand new downhill freestyle course and a fleet of sparkling Iron Horse rental bikes. Add these new elements to the 200 acres of terrain appealing to all levels of bikers.

Hours of Operation:
Lift accessed riding will begin July 1, running weekends only through October 1.

Catskill
Plattekill Mtn.

. . . is a rider’s mountain where the experience is riding your bike and pushing yourself to new levels. It features over 60 miles of lift-served mountain bike trails and is host to a series of N.O.R.B.A sanctioned (National Off-Road Biking Association) mountain bike races. The trails at Plattekill range from fast, open runs to tight rocky single-track.

Saturday April 29 through early November: Open weekends

Catskill
Verizon Sports Complex (Lake Placid)

. . . is located 5 miles from Lake Placid at Mt. Van Hoevenberg. Experience mountain biking on the 30+ miles of groomed cross country ski trails, appropriate for all ages and all ability levels. Choose from moderate to challenging terrain, single track, slalom courses and numerous jumps.

June 22 - September 3: 10am - 5 pm daily
September 9 - October 8: 10 am - 5 pm daily

Adirondack
Whiteface Mountain

Access trails on the lower mountain that wind through the scenic valley and along the river or for advanced bikers, access trails from the top of Little Whiteface via the Cloudsplitter Gondola. Most riding is for the intermediate to advanced level.

Hours of Operation:
June 19 - September 6: 9 am to 4 pm daily.
September 11 - October 11: Weekends Only.
Closed July 25 for Ironman.
